WALVANDA, SEP 1, 2016: Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha (BSVS) has constructed four new check dams and repaired nine check dams in Jawhar and Mokhada Talukas of Palghar district, Maharashtra.
Work commenced in April this year and was completed by May 31. All the dams are filled with water and it is expected to remain throughout the year.
Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha instructed the farmers living near the dams on fishery. Eighty six farmers got motivated and came forward to start fishery projects in the area.
In the first stage, 160 packets of fishlings were distributed to the farmers on August 22 by BSVS. Culta and Rahu were the varieties of fishlings handed out. Advanced training for the new farmers was arranged on August 26.
Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha distributed the fishlings to the farmers on 50% subsidy. BSVS received a great response for this project.
Many more farmers have been asking for fishlings and training from the organisation. In the second stage, BSVS plans to distribute 200 packets of fishlings at 25% subsidy to the farmers.
