MUMBAI, AUG 26, 2017: The need for spreading the message of "respect for women and girls" is very relevant in our country. Shelter Don Bosco used their monthly mela on August 20, to promote the cause through the celebration of Raksha Bandhan.

The Mela followed the theme, "Respect for Women and girls". The staff used videos to tell the youth about Raksha Bandhan. They were told about the traditional practices and meaning of the celebration. The staff then tied traditional rakhis to the boys.

Shabra Kamle from Shelter, then conducted an activity wherein the boys made friendship bands. Lively games, like balancing the balloon and musical chair, followed.

Father Gregory Almeida, Rector of Shelter Don Bosco, then awarded prizes to the winners. In the course of the day, the youth were given new clothes, haircuts and necessary medical assistance. A Bollywood film, "Munna Michael" was also screened.
