BIS #5579 YOGA DAY AT DON BOSCO PUNE

PUNE, JULY 13, 2018: The staff and students of Don Bosco Junior College, Pune celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, with staff from the Isha Foundation highlighting the benefits of Yoga.
Kalpak Asolkar, a software engineer, and a volunteer from Isha Foundation was invited to lead the staff and students into yoga. Asolkar, at the onset, played an audio video showcasing the origin of yoga.
The students enthusiastically participated in performing the asana's, wrist exercise, neck exercise, shoulder exercise, movement of the arms, yoga namaskar, nadi shudhi for inner cleaning and nada yoga. Students were also introduced to Upa Yoga which includes yoga for health, success, peace, well- being, joy, inner exploration and love.
The students were further made to utter the sounds like 'Aaa, Woo and Hmm', which are the basic or the universal sounds and further added that the whole existence is just a reverberation which produces sound and uttering these three sounds helps in activating and energising different aspects of the body, mind and soul.
He ended the session by sharing his experience of practicing yoga and its benefits. "After hearing the benefits of yoga, I will be taking time out for yoga and I believe that it will surely help me preparing for my board exams and as I am also planning to go in for NDA, yoga will keep me fit," Abhijeet Kanse, a science student, said.
