MUMBAI, OCT 8, 2018: Seventy-five construction workers attended a special HIV awareness camp at a construction site in Shivaji Nagar, Govandi, on October 7 conducted by Don Bosco Balprafulta (DBBP).

Ashish Halwai and Marzia Rizvi from Arphen NGO were the resource persons for the camp, which began at 1 pm. Firstly, DBBP staff introduced themselves and informed workers about the Migrant Desk, meant to serve the needs of the migrant diaspora.

Marzia was the first to take a session on Tuberculosis (TB). She spoke about the types of TB and the importance of TB prevention. In the second session, Halwai addressed the issue of HIV. He made workers understand the difference between HIV and AIDS, the symptoms of HIV and how one could get infected by the virus. He also shared some precautionary methods of avoiding this disease.

At the onset, the workers were averse to speaking on the issue but as the session continued everyone started participating, including their supervisors. They were happy with the session conducted by DBBP staff.
