BIS #5693 CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION FOR SLUM KIDS

MUMBAI, NOV 19, 2018: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) celebrated Children’s Day with 450 poor children from the slums of Mumbai on November 17.

The children were sons and daughters of the women from the self-help groups – who are beneficiaries of the DBDS Slum Project. The children were treated to games and fun, attractive prizes, sumptuous meals and dances.

Father Rolvin D’Mello, Executive Director – DBDS, welcomed the gathering and dignitaries, namely Doctor Suhani Mendonca, Jayesh Chandan, Kailash Parekh, and Father Glenford Lowe, Rector of Don Bosco Provincial House.

In his address, Father D’Mello thanked Doctor Mendonca for sponsoring the breakfast and the Past-pupils unit of Matunga for sponsoring the lunch for the children.

“Today we are celebrating Children’s Day and we are committed to giving these children the best – so that they have a wonderful day,” Surekha Pednekar, project officer – DBDS, said.

In the post-lunch session, the youth presented a cultural performance that included dances. The celebrations ended with a gift for every child. “We really had a time of our life today; it was so much fun to be here – we are grateful to DBDS,” Vikas Mishra from standard seve
