MUMBAI, FEB 25, 2019: Students from standard five to nine of Bosco Boys Home (BBH) Borivli attended a session on Effective Time Management which was conducted by students from the College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan on February 21.
Father Dinesh Kumar from Patna Archdiocese and Gayatri Dhargalkar, both experts in the field of social work were the moderators for the event. Deacon Romero D’souza, the Perfect of Studies welcomed the moderators and introduced them to the students.
Deacon D’souza encouraged the students to understand the importance of time and manage it with the expertise of the speakers. He further urged them to utilise their time effectively and productively.
The sessions were divided into four parts comprising an activity, discussion on a case study, tips for effective time management, and the barriers in time management with critical feedback. In the activity, the students had the option to either write or draw all tasks they perform during the day and also to mention the time spent on each task. This helped the students to reflect on their own time management skills.
The youth were then divided into four groups with each group being given a question paper on the issues they faced due to ineffective management of time.
While giving the students tips for effective time management, Father Kumar said, “For managing your time it is very important to set proper goals by making a list of all the things I have to do and of all the things I can do in the limited time I have, and put a plan of action to achieve it. This is called a SMART goal concept.”
In the feedback session, the students were given guidance on taking care of themselves by eating timely and healthy meals, taking frequent breaks to relax, practicing meditation and yoga, having eight hours of sleep, and staying positive.
“It was a very nice session. I am grateful to them for teaching me to use my time efficiently. From now onwards I will make a proper time table for my daily schedule and try to follow it faithfully,” Vishal Gautam, from standard eight, said.
