BIS #5762 PROVINCIAL CHAPTER MUMBAI: DAY FOUR

by Father Leon Rodrigues

LONAVLA, FEB 21, 2019: The fourth day of the Provincial Chapter (PC 2019) of the Mumbai province, currently underway at Don Bosco, Lonavla, witnessed the various commissions presenting the third draft of their papers, which were discussed and changes made during the course of the discussion.

Father Savio D’Souza celebrated the Holy Eucharist before the sessions began. In his homily, he asked the congregation to ponder on the principal question in the day’s Gospel – “Who do You say I am?”

This question further gives rise to three queries, he said. ‘Who is Christ for me? Whom am I for Christ? Can Christ rely on me?’ He explained that the three questions lead an individual's identity and mission. He stressed, ‘We are consecrated – persons of God, apostles, and apostles who are sent.’

Father Allwyn Misquitta began the first session of the day by leading participants in prayer. Father Christopher George took the roll call. The secretary of PC 2019, Father Vinod Mascarenhas then read the minutes of the previous day. The assembly passed the minutes.

The morning and afternoon sessions were utilised by the commissions in presenting the third draft of their papers. Commission 1 made a presentation on  ‘Priority of the Mission with the Young’, Commission 2 on ‘Profile of the Salesian Today’ and Commission 3 on ‘Shared Mission Between Salesians and Laity’.

The papers were discussed and changes were made. The evening session of the day was utilised by the commissions to prepare the final draft of their papers. The day ended with Holy Adoration.
