STRENGTHENED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

YERWADA, JUNE 29, 2012: June 23, 2012 was a significant and joyous day for fifty three young boys and girls of Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada – who received the sacrament of Confirmation. The Rt Rev Bishop Lourdes Daniel, of Nashik Diocese did the honours.
Confirmation is regarded - in the Catholic Church - as the perfection of the sacrament of Baptism, which is usually received as infants. The introduction in the Rite of Confirmation states: "By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."

The youth receiving confirmation were very jubilant, as they were being anointed with chrism by the bishop, accompanied by the words: "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit," thus reconfirming their status as adult members of the Catholic Church.

It is appropriate to mention the painstaking efforts of Brs. Daresh, Sunil, and Rajshekar Reddy who helped prepare the youth for this occasion. The Shy group and Tejomay choirs made the occasion truly memorable with their harmonious singing.
